Why Should I Come?
- Your sexual health is as important as your general health and it
is in your interest to take it seriously.
- Any unprotected sexual activity puts you at risk of contracting
a sexually transmitted infection (STI). This includes unprotected
oral sex.
- You may not have any symptoms if you have
an infection. Therefore, it is important to come for a check-up any
time you feel you may have put yourself at risk.
- Remember that most STI’s are easily treated. Complications
may occur if infections are left untreated.
Symptoms
The most common symptoms of an STi may include:
- Unusual discharge from the vagina or penis
- Sores/blisters/ulcers on the vagina, penis, anus or genital area
- Lumps or spots on the vagina, penis, anus or genital area
- Pain or discomfort when you pass urine
- Pain in your lower tummy (women) or scrotal area (men)
- Itchiness or soreness in the genital area
Complications

pelvic pain, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), increased risk of ectopic
pregnancy, pelvic adhesions(scar tissue in the pelvic area), infertility,
conjunctivitis, problems in pregnancy, risk of passing infections on
to babies and other partners.
Not so common complications can include arthritis, increased risk
of HIV transmission, cancers. For further information see our section
